70 08 BIRDLIFE
I was lucky enough to aquire rolls of blinds offcuts, used in large width vertical blinds. I instantly imagined wallhangings from the 50's and the 70's, whether it be a couple of dancing islanders or black velvet painted with tourist hotspots. These wallhangings are my interpretation.
This particular wall hanging was created using a vintage linen Australiana teatowel and various fabric scraps from my studio. I've tried to capture the Australian native garden, including gum leaves, wattle flowers and banksia flowers and seed pods.
The timber used for the top and bottom of the wallhanging is offcuts of timber venetian blinds. A small triangle hook is attached to the back for easy hanging.
